TALOQAN (Pajhwok): An illegal armed group commander was killed along with his mother and wife by unidentified gunmen in northern Takhar province, an official said on Wednesday.
Provincial Police Spokesman Maj. Abdul Jalil Aseer told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place in Nawabad area of Khowaja Bahauddin district late on Tuesday night.
A local Commander Fatah, his wife and mother were killed when unidentified gunmen stormed the commander’s house.
Naweed, a resident of the area, said Fatah had 15 illegal armed supporters and all of them were operating under another commander Malik Tatar in three districts of the province.
No groups so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
There have been several illegal armed groups active in Takhar province. The province also witnessed similar incidents in the past.
