KABUL (Pajhwok): Nine security personnel have been killed in a roadside bombing during an ongoing operation in northern Balkh province, a local official said on Sunday.
Several members of the security forces were wounded in the overnight explosion in Chamtal district, Munir Ahmad Farhad, spokesman for the governor, was quoted as saying.
The security forces are conducting an offensive Taliban in the district. The gubernatorial spokesman said five militants had also been killed and dozens wounded.
