KABUL (Pajhwok): About 18 people, including a woman, have been detained for smuggling drugs and alcoholic drinks in various provinces, an official said on Monday.
Khalid Moahid, spokesman for the counter-narcotics Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF), told Pajhwok Afghan News the suspects had been arrested during the last one week.
He said security forces detained the 18 individuals in separate incidents in Kabul, Nangarhar and Baghlan provinces.
According to Khalid, as many as 651kgs of hashish, more than 10kgs of morphine, nine kilograms of heroin, 184 litres of alcoholic drinks, four weapons and some ammunition, 22 mobile sets and six vehicles were seized from the detainees.
Moahid said cases of the detainees were currently being interrogated by CJTF, and their results would soon be given to the media.
