TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): For the last eight months, the Taliban have besieged a military compound in central Uruzgan province, trapping dozens of soldiers inside, residents and their representatives said on Sunday.
The Taliban launched coordinated attacks on army and police posts on the outskirts of Tirinkot, the provincial capital, last year, with the Afghan forces putting up a strong resistance in Meharabad and Khurma localities. Seventeen security men lost their lives to the battles.
However, dozens of security forces are still besieged by the Taliban in Meharabad area . . .
