HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Fifteen militants, including the Taliban-shadow administrative chief for Adarskan, have been killed during military operation in western Herat province, an official said on Wednesday.
Jailani Farhad, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News security forces launched a joint clearing operation against militants in Adarskan district from the past three days.
He said 15 militants were killed including two notorious commanders and 21 others wounded.
Mulah Hamid, the Taliban’ shadow district chief, for Adarskan district was among the dead.
The security forces launched clearing operation aimed at to purged rebels from clear 31 villages.
Security personnel faced militants in Merabad, Naharkhanjak, Poshta Aliabad and Dahan Ghar villages, the spokesman said.
He did not give information about the security forces casualties.
A resident of the area who wished to go unnamed said the Taliban target security forces to inflict casualties to them but he endorsed militants had been defeated in most of the areas.
Taliban have not commented about the Adarskan operation.
