PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Twelve militants have been killed and 15 others wounded during clashes with security forces in central Logar province, officials said on Tuesday.
Four security personnel were wounded in the clashes that erupted in Babos, Sarsang, Alozayo, Zardad villages and Braki Barak district late on Monday night, said Salim Saleh, the governor’s spokesman.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News 12 Taliban attackers were killed and 15 others were wounded during the clashes that left four security men injured. A clearing operation was underway to purge the villages of militants, the gubernatorial spokesman said.
Daud, an inhabitant of the district, said the clashes broke out late last night and lasted several hours, leaving six Taliban gunmen and a schoolteacher dead.
Shapur Arab, Ghazni education department spokesman, confirmed Mohammad Imran, a teacher at Babos High School, was killed in Monday night’s clashes. He did not go into details.
Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, on his social account said 25 security forces were killed in the clashes in Alozayo area. He said one fighter was also killed and three others wounded.
