SIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Taliban and Daesh militants have kidnapped more than a dozen civilians in northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Wednesday.
The Taliban took seized people in Qara Boian and Chakush villages of Aqcha district and took them to an undisclosed location, said the governor’s spokesman.
Mohammad Raza Ghafoori added the abducted individuals were busy harvesting poppies. There is no information yet on their whereabouts.
Aminullah, the administrative chief for Qush Tepa district, said three more people were kidnapped by armed supporters of Qari Hekmatullah. The abducted people hail from Dasht-i-Laili district.
Rahmatullah Hashar, the Darz Ab district chief, claimed Daesh rebels have abducted a farmer. He said there was no information about the man.
Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid denied his group’s involvement in the abduction of civilians. He believed armed groups might have kidnapped the people.
“We have talked to our local commander in this regard. He is unaware of the incident. The Taliban have nothing to do with the abduction of civilians,” he concluded.
