2 children killed in Kapisa landmine blast

MAHMUD RAQI (Pajhwok): Two children have been killed and two other people wounded as a result of landmine explosion in the Nejrab district of central Kapisa province, an official said on Wednesday.

Police Chief Mohammad Razaq Yaqobi told Pajhwok Afghan News the explosion took place in Ahmad Bek hill of Nejrab district late on Monday evening.

He said two children were killed and two other people wounded in the blast when they were walking on the hillside. There was no information that when the landmine as planted.

He added the slain children each were 12-year-old and the injured had been evacuated to Baba Ali hospital and their condition is said to be stable.

From January 1to April 30 UNAMA preliminarily recorded 987 child casualties (283 deaths and 704 injured) showing 21 per cent increase in child deaths compared to the same period in 2016.
