KABUL (Pajhwok): An intense day of the Shpageeza premier league auction came to an end at might night, with Gulbadin Naib becoming the most expensive player.
The auction began in the evening yesterday and ended at midnight during a special ceremony in Kabul where a large number of traders were present.
Opening the auction, Afghanistan Cricket Board chief Shukrullah Atif Mashal said: “Today we are writing a new leaf in our cricket history by introducing national and international players for auction.”
He hoped the sixes tournament would help increase traders’ participation in promotion of the game.
Gulbadin Naib was sold for 7.4 million afghanis, Pakistani player Roman Raees for 4.5 million afs, Fazl Niazi 1.25 million, Najib Zadran 6.4 million.
Pakistani player Soail Tanwir was sold for 4.2 million afs, Kamran Akmal for 5.2 million afs, Farid Malak 3.1 million afs, Bangladesh’s Tamim Iqbal was sold for 2.1 million, Zimbabwe’s Hamilton Masakadza for 1.35 million afs, Yamin Ahmadzai for 1.6 million afs and Sharfuddin Sharf was sold for 1.05 million afs.
