Funeral attackers concealed explosives in shoes

KABUL) on Sunday said the suicide bombers who attacked a funeral ceremony in Kabul had concealed the explosives in their shoes.

A day earlier, seven people were killed and 119 others wounded when three suicide bombers detonated explosives at funeral ceremony for Mohammad Salim Ezdyar, son of Meshrano Jirga deputy chairman, Mohammad Alam Ezdyar, in Kabul.

Salim Ezdyar was killed during a protest that turned violent in Kabul city on Friday.

The intelligence agency said the attackers had received training at Mulavi Ahmad Madrasa in Pakistan’s Quetta city.

The NDS in a statement said the attackers had skillfully concealed the explosives in their shoes and security forces had been unable to detect them.

The statement said NDS operatives had captured one of the attackers who wanted to blow his explosives at the funeral ceremony.

The statement added intelligence forces had detained another 12 terrorists who planned to carry out attacks in Kabul.
