TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Friday’s fire has gutted hundreds of carpentry shops in the capital of northeastern Takhar province, inflicting tens of millions of afghanis loss on shop owners, an official said on Saturday.
The yesterday’s blaze in a carpentry marketplace gutted 700 shops, a shopkeeper in the area, Rahmatullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the flames were so powerful that they burnt three carpentry markets within 10 minutes and speedily spread towards other shops.
