KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) on Saturday signed the contracts of 10 uplift projects worth of 428 million Afghanis with private companies.
Speaking to reporters here, rural rehabilitation minister, Naseer Ahmad Durrani, said the projects included asphalting of 21-kilometer road and construction of 467 metres bridge in Baghlan, Logar, Parwan, Ghazni and Uruzgan provinces.
He said the development projects would be implemented by the private sector and it would help generate work opportunities for 191,000 people direct and indirectly.
“We took guarantee from the companies on the quality and timely completion of the uplift projects otherwise the companies would be dealt according to the law,” he said.
The representatives of companies in charge for the execution of development projects assured of quality work and timely completion.
The MRRD under its rural road construction program built 5,450 kilometres of road and 5,000 meters bridged across the country over the past years. In addition if that, construction of 4,000 kilometres rural roads was underway.
