FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Two sisters serving in police have been killed after being kidnapped by militants in Argo district of northeastern Badakhshan province, officials said Wednesday.

Provincial operations commander, Col. Imam Ali Azizi, told Pajhwok Afghan News the two sisters aged 20 and 22. They were killed in Spingul village of Argo district late on Tuesday.

He said one of the policewomen was officer of detention center and another was administrative staff member of the police headquarters.

The two policewomen were first abducted on Tuesday when they were visiting their relatives in Spingul village during Eid holidays, Azizi said, adding then the militants killed both of them this morning.

The two sisters were also accompanied by a 12-year-old brother and their mother but the militants did not harm them, he said, adding the incident happened in an area under the Taliban control.

The government hadn’t recovered the bodies of the slain policewomen so far, Azizi added.

No militant group has so far commented on the incident.
