KABUL (Pajhwok): Britain announced sending 100 more troops to help train and mentor Afghan security forces, Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said on Thursday.
Defence Secretary Michael Fallon was talking to media on arrivel to NATO defense ministers meeting in Brussles.
They will be used to train up more Afghan soldiers and air force pilots rather than in any direct combat role, he added.
He pledged the support for Afghan security forcess in both militry and financially.
Secretary Michael Fallon praised Afghan Security forces for maintaining the momentum during the fighting season.
UK already has 500 troops in NATO Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan.
Also on Thursday, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said 15 nations had pledged deploying more troops to Afghanistan.
He said: “We will end the day with a meeting of all nations contributing to the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan. We will discuss the future of NATO’s presence in that country.”
