MEHTARLAM/KABUL (Pajhwok): Ten militants have been killed and five others injured in a clash and drone strike in the central Maidan Wardak and eastern Laghman provinces, an official said on Sunday.

Eight Taliban were killed and four others wounded in a clash in the Jalrez district of Maidan Wardak, said Police spokesman Naqib Ameni.

The clash erupted after the Taliban attacked security forces check-posts in the area on Saturday. One policeman was wounded in the attack.

Separately, two Taliban were killed in US drone strike in the Qaghayio district of Laghman province. Two insurgents from the Commander Hassan’s group were targeted in the attack in Amber area, said Sarhadi Zwak, the governor’s spokesman.

Elsewhere, an insurgent was wounded in security force ambush in Alishang district, he added.
