Pakistani man held with 10 tonnes of ammonium nitrate

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Boarder police have captured 10 tonnes of ammonium nitrate at the Torkham dry port in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.

Col. Mohammad Ayub Hussainkhel, boarder police commander in the eastern zone of the country, said 200 bags of the fertilizer used in bomb making were recovered from a truck at the dry port.

He said police had arrested a Pakistani man named Mullah Jan from Khyber Agency in connection with the smuggling attempt.

Former President Hamid Karzai banned ammonium nitrate imports into the country after its increasing use in making bombs.
