KABUL’s suicide bombing in western Kabul, according a statement from the embassy.
“This deadly attack on brave and dedicated Afghan public servants shows blatant disrespect for human life and the rights of all Afghans to live peacefully and free from terror,” the statement read.
It added the US stood with the people of Afghanistan at this time of tragedy and reiterated its commitment to helping them build a more secure and prosperous future for their country.
“We offer our deepest sympathy to everyone affected by this terrible act of cowardly violence.”
At least 24 people were killed and more than 42 others wounded as a result of a powerful suicide car bombing near Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq’s residence.
Najib Danish, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), told Pajhwok Afghan News the suicide car bombing took place in the limits of the 3rd police district at 7:00am. Three vehicles and 15 shops were destroyed by the massive blast that killed 24 people and wounded 42 others.
