Round-the-clock raids leave 167 Taliban dead

KABUL (Pajhwok): As many as 167 insurgents have been killed and another 135 wounded during operations in 13 provinces over the past 24 hours, the spy service said on Saturday.

A statement from the National Directorate of Security or NDS said intelligence operatives conducted 26 independent and joint operations round-the-lock.

The raids were carried out in capital Kabul and Zabul, Badghis, Kapisa, Nangarhar, Paktia, Herat, Ghor, Badakhshan, Faryab, Baghlan, Helmand and Nimroz provinces, the statement said.

The offensives included three solely carried out by the NDS and four airstrikes and 18 ground raids were conducted jointly with other forces, read the statement.

It claimed 147 Taliban member.

In addition, 50 kilograms of drugs and about 26 various vehicles and seven motorbikes were also destroyed during the operations, it concluded.
