TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): As many as 452 dead and injured people were delivered at the Civil Hospital in the capital of central Uruzgan province during the past one year, health officials said on Wednesday.

Hospital Director Aminullah Tokhi told reporters here they daily imposed emergency in the hospital since the conflict surged in Tirinkot and districts in the past one year.

He said they treated more casualties resulting from the ongoing conflict this year compared to the previous year as a large number of dead and wounded civilians and military personnel were delivered to the facility for treatment.

Tokhi said more than 450 dead and injured people, including civilians and security forces, were shifted to the hospital in the past 12 months.

He said 23 slain security personnel and 194 injured and 18 dead civilians and 217 wounded had been brought to the hospital during the period.

He said both parties to the conflict used civilian population as shield, thus risking civilians’ lives.
