58 rebels killed, 34 wounded in past 24 hours

KABUL (Pajhwok): Nearly 60 militants have been killed and 34 others wounded during the past 14 hours in 13 provinces of the country, the Ministry of Defense said on Friday.

In a statement, the ministry said the operations were carried out in Nangarhar, Laghman, Kapisa, Paktia, Paktika, Ghazni, Uruzgan, Farah, Badghis, Balkh, Faryab, Kunduz and Helmand provinces.

The statement said a number of local commanders were among 58 militants killed in the operations that left another 34 rebels wounded.

Security forces also confiscated 14 motorcycles and some weapons and ammunition during the raids since yesterday, the MoD statement said.
