Bill Salvin said none of the injuries were considered life threatening. All of the injured service members were being treated at the US military hospital at Bagram Air Base.

The incident happened at around 1:15 pm, he added. Bagram District Chief Abdul Shakor Qodusi said there was no information about the losses of foreign troops, but three injured civilians had been shifted to the hospital from the site of blast.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for attack. The group spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said killing 13 foreign soldiers were killed and 11 others injured in the attack. Three military tanks were also destroyed in the attack, added Mujahid.
