JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Four Daesh rebels have been killed during a clash with tribal militia forces in eastern Nangarhar province, the governor’s spokesman said Monday.

Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News the Daesh or Islamic State gunmen and members of the public uprising group clashed in Nazyan district on Monday night.

Four IS fighters were killed and two others were arrested, he said, identifying the slain militants as residents of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Their bodies, three Kalashnikovs and a suicide vest remained at the clash site, said Khogyani, adding a civilian, who was in Daesh custody, was also rescued.

The IS group has not yet commented about the clash.
