MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Gunmen shot dead a father and his two minor children as young as four years old in Qaisar district of northern Faryab province, an official said on Tuesday.
Nizamuddin Qaisari, Qaisar district police chief, said the incident took place at around 4pm in Jorliq village of the district. He claimed the armed individuals were affiliated with Rahmatullah, the Qaisar district chief. He said the dead included a father, his 4-year-old daughter and a 7-year-old son.
Qaisari said the dead and a fourth person wounded in the attack had been displaced due cruelty of the district chief in Jorliq area.
However, Rahamatullah, the district chief, denied the allegations and told Pajhwok Afghan News that police had killed the three persons.
According to him, four Afghan National Police (ANP) personnel joined the Taliban Anwar, wanted to transfer their families and children to the Taliban area, but police opened fire at the families, resulting in the said casualties.
