JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 15 Taliban and Daesh militants have been killed in airstrikes in eastern Lagham and Nangarhar provinces, officials said on Saturday.
Nangarhar police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News that seven Daesh or Islamic State rebels were killed during an air raid in Achin district on Friday.
In Laghman, Sarhadi Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, said eight Taliban insurgents were killed and five others militants wounded during a clash with police in Alishang district.
He said one policeman was killed and three others wounded in the clash. The injured rebels included a notorious commander Janat Gul, the gubernatorial spokesman said.
Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban’s spokesman, claimed security forces suffered casualties and their two check-posts and some weapons were captured by the fighters.
