JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Drugs and alcoholic drinks weighing 13 tons were set alight in Rodat district eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday.
Officials said 336 smugglers, including some high profile, have been arrested in connection with the drugs torched.
Nangarhar counternarcotics director said government’s efforts at countering drugs were insufficient and poppy crop was not eradicated during the anti-poppy campaign last year.
Nangarhar police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi told reporters in Sarkhad Diwal area of Rodat district, where the drugs were torched, that they were seriously combating drug smuggling and poppy . . .
