LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Ten security personnel were killed in airstrike in the Gerishk district of southern Helmand province on Sunday, a reliable source said.
The source said Governor Hayatullah Hayat held an emergency meeting with foreigners on airstrike issue.
Governor spokesman Umar Zwak said the incident happened in Adam Khan locality where causalities inflicted on security forces. Zwak, however did not say anything about casualties of security forces.
Maj. Abdul Qader Bahadurzai, spokesman for 215 Maiwand Military Corp, said they conducted the airstrike over wrong tip off provided by the National Directorate of Security (NDS).
He said Afghan security forces targeted in the attack, but did not provide the exact figure about casualties.
