4 attackers killed before reaching target in Kandahar

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Police in the Marrof district of southern Kandahar province on Monday shot dead four suicide attackers before they could reach their goals.

Police spokesman Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in Maroof district when the assailants wanted to target police headquarters through Humvee tank full of explosives on Sunday night.

Durrani said the attackers had been identified by police and gunned down before they could execute their plan. The tank was later detonated by the bomb disposal squad.

No one else suffered casualties, he added. The Taliban have so far said nothing regarding the incident.
