SHEBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Five Daesh rebels have been killed during a clash with security forces while the insurgents have destroyed graves in the Darz Ab district of northern Jazjan province, an official said on Sunday.
Police Chief Brig. Gen. Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani told Pajhwok Afghan News that the clash between Daesh militants and security forces erupted in Darzab district when the insurgents stormed check-posts manned by the security forces.
Daesh members have also destroyed two cemeteries at places where the outlawed group wanted to create its bases.
The resultant gun battle between Daesh and the security forces continued until late on Saturday night. One security personnel was superficially injured in the clash.
A local resident, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that Daesh militants have been involved in destroying two cemeteries where they wanted to create their base.
The insurgents, according to him, also destroyed the Khawaja Ashkar and its surrounding tombs last year.
District Chief Baz Mohammad Dawar said Daesh militants dig holes in all the tombs and also removed the fencing along with other decorations in Mughal and Hulqani villages. He added that the people living in those areas were completely helpless to react.
