JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 18 Daesh or Islamic State militants have been killed in an airstrike and a clash in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Monday.
Another 18 gunmen loyal to the group were wounded in the separate air and ground offensives during the past 24-hours, Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said 14 Daesh rebels were killed, including a key figure Saqib, and their weapons and ammunition destroyed in the airstrike in Abdulkhelo area of Achin district.
In Chaparhar district, four IS militants were killed and two others were wounded in a clash with security forces in Garazo area on Sunday, said Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, the provincial police spokesman.
The two officials said security forces suffered no casualties in the two incidents.
