3 Georgian soldiers wounded in Afghanistan

KABUL, the Defence Ministry in Tbilisi says.

In the second month of their tour of duty, the servicemen were involved in the NATO-led Resolute Support mission, a statement from the ministry said.

Indentified as Papuna Khorava, Omar Beridze and Nugzar Osanadze, the troops were evacuated to a hospital on the Bagram Airfield for medical examinations.

They are said to be in stable condition, according to the statement that provided no information about the exact location of the incident.

At least 32 Georgian soldiers have been killed and 280 wounded in Afghanistan since 2001. Seven Georgians were killed on June 6, 2013, when a truck hit their outpost in Helmand.

There are currently 879 Georgian soldiers in Afghanistan. The NATO-led mission has not yet commented on the incident.
