JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Taliban) in the Khogyani district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the Koz Bahar area of the district on Monday night.
Qari Jamil was gunned down inside the mosque while offering evening prayers, he said, adding the imam had no link with the government or any other group.
Governor Mohammad Gulab Mangal expressed his grief over the killing of the religious scholars and slammed the militants for the cowardly act.
