Abdul Latif Murad appointed new Kapisa governor

KABUL/ MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani appointed Abdul Latif Murad as new governor of the central Kapisa province on Wednesday, his office said.

Murad was recommended to the president by the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG), a statement from the  Administrative Office of the President (AOP) said.

The statement said Murad, a member of the High Peace Council (HPC), was a high qualified person and has good work experience.

In central Kapisa province, the Provincial Council head, Hussain Sinjni, said Murad hailed from Bolghin Valley of Kohband district of the province.

He said the new governor was also member of the Jamiat-i-Islami (JIA) and brother of Aziz Murad, former spokesman to JIA’s former leader Ustad Burhanuddin Rabbani.

Sinjni called Latif Murad’s appointment as Kapisa governor “a good decision” saying he would prove effective and beneficial for Kapisa.
