PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Nearly a dozen foreigners, including women and children, have been detained with weapons in central Logar province, an official said on Thursday.
Eleven citizens of Uzbekistan and Chechnya were arrested by security personnel in the Koza Chotri area of Azra district on Wednesday, the governor’s spokesman said.
Saleem Saleh told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainees included three women and six children. Two rockets, as many Kalashnikov rifles, a pick-up and a motorbike were seized from the foreigners.
The Uzbeks and Chechens entered Azra from Hesarak and Khogyani districts of neighbouring Nangarhar province. But the official had no idea where they were going.
Saleh said the detainees were under investigation. Eight Chechens had been arrested in the Charkh district of Logar during an operation some months back.
