Commander among 8 Taliban dead in Uruzgan blitz

<p>TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Eight <a href="/en/taliban" class="glossify-link">Taliban</a> militants were killed in an airstrike in the capital of central Uruzgan province last night, an official said on Friday.</p>

<p>Another three militants were injured in the <a href="/en/nato" class="glossify-link">NATO</a> airstrike that struck a centre of the insurgents in Sabzak area of Tirinkot, the provincial capital, on Thursday night.</p>

<p>First police battalion commander at the provincial police headquarters, Malak Zainullah, told Pajhok Afghan News the dead Taliban included a notorious commander, <a href="/en/mullah" class="glossify-link">Mullah</a> Qaseem.</p>

<p>Qaseem was a resident of Balochi area of Tirinkot and he had been spearheading local Taliban in the area.</p>

<p>Pajhwok tried to contact local residents about the airstrike, but a contact could not be established.</p>

<p>The Taliban have so far said nothing in this regard.</p>
