FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): A girl brought to the capital of western Ghor province for medical treatment complains of being subjected to violence by her in-laws.
Gul Hazar, 17, says she has been a victim of consistent violence. She accused her father-in-law of feeding her leftover food from a family dog.
Tell-tale signs of torture and beatings are visible on her face and other body parts. She has been brought to the clinic of Dr. Mirajan Ahmadi by one of her relatives for treatment.
Apparently frightened, Gul Hazar, who has seen nothing but torture and abuse from in-laws, told Pajhwok Afghan News her father-in-law named Saleh daily sent her to mountains for collecting wood.
After her return, her father-in-law allegedly forces her into eating food left over by his dog. “He would give me a bag and ask me to collect firewood.
“I once stayed for three nights in the mountains. When I returned home, he did not allow me to burn the wood to warm myself. I had to eat the food the dog’s food. He warned me to consume it if there is nothing to eat.”
Gul Hazar grumbled she was often beaten by her sisters-in-law and their mother. “They even decided to kill me,” she said.
Mullah Sakhi Dad, a relative of the girl, confirmed the teenager was tortured and thrashed frequently. Her father-in-law and husband once inserted a stick into her private parts, the man revealed.
Signs of torture and beating could be seen on the girl’s body, he said, asking the government to investigate the case dispassionately and punish the perpetrators.
Doctors at of Mir Ajab Ahmadi’s private clinic also verified torture against the girl, saying deep wounds were visible on her body.
Dr. Sheema said: “Fresh signs of torture are visible on the body of the girl, who has suffered a lot on wounds on the front side. She has been tortured severely.”
Bismillah, police chief for Dolina district, also confirmed the sordid episode and said the victim’s mother-in-law, father-in-law, husband, and sister-in-law had been arrested.
“The incident happened in Phan village. We have taken remedial steps, arrested the perpetrators and handed them over to the central police headquarters,” he concluded.
