KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): Six Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel were killed and four others injured in a suicide blast in the Maiwand district of southern Kandahar province on Friday, an official said.

The suicide blast took place early in the morning at around 4:30am near the district police headquarters, said Ghorzang Afridi, secretary of the police headquarters.

He said the bomber tried to ram the explosive-laden Humvee vehicle into the police headquarters but was prevented by security forces.

He added the vehicle after crossing the first check-post came under the ALP personnel firing and exploded.

The ALP personnel headquarters was destroyed in the blast. The Taliban have not commented about the suicide blast.
