The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH)'s spokesman, Mohammad Ismail Kawosi, said two National Directorate of Security (NDS) members were also among the dead. He said nothing about health condition of the wounded.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has said the explosion took place in the limits of 9th police district at around 8am this morning.
Nasrat Rahimi, deputy spokesman for the MoI, told Pajhwok Afghan News a suicide bomber detonated his explosives close to a NDS checkpoint near Abdul Haq square.
He said six individuals, including, two security personnel, were killed and five others wounded.
According to eyewitnesses, two vehicles were destroyed and all the windowpanes were shattered close to the blast site.
International media reported, that Daesh or so-called Islamic State militants claimed responsibility for the blast.
President Ashraf Ghani in a statement strongly condemned the terrorist attack and said the enemies of peace and stability could not reach to their goals through such acts.
