PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A Haqqani network.
At least two suspected militants were killed on Tuesday when the pilotless aircraft struck the vehicle they were travelling in. The slain commander was identified as Jamiuddin.
Drones had been hovering over the Kurram for two days, according to residents, who said four drones flew deep into the remote valley and fired missiles at the vehicle in Mata Sanger.
An official, based in the area, told Pakistani media outlets an associate of the insurgent commander was also killed in the airstrike.
Meanwhile, the Haqqani network also confirmed the loss of its commander, who facilitated fighters during their movement in Afghanistan.
Jamiuddin stopped his car for conversation on his mobile phone when the drone fired two missiles and killed him on the spot, a Haqqani member told Reuters.
It was the sixth US drone strike in Kurram during the current year. More than 40 people have been killed in such strikes, according to Dawn.
