Turkmenistan extends power export to Afghanistan for a month

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) on Tuesday said power supply from Turkmenistan to western region of the country had resumed after a two days cut.

A day earlier, DABS Director Amanullah Ghalib told Pajhwok Afghan News that Turkmenistan had decided to double the price of power exports to Afghanistan.

However, the demand was declined. In response, the exporter cut off power supply. He hoped a delegation would soon visit Turkmenistan to share Afghanistan’s reservations with them.

He said that they had discussed the issue with Turkmen authorities. Both sides agreed on extending the power supply to Afghanistan for one month.

Two days back, Turkmenistan cut power supply to Herat, Faryab, Jawzjan and Sar-i-Pul provinces. The electricity supply, however, resumed Monday night.
