GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Taliban insurgents have freed 14 police personnel after holding them captive for eight months in Janikhel district of southeastern Paktia province, an official said on Sunday.
Police also confirmed the news and said the Taliban had captured the policemen in Janikhel district during a fight eight months back.
Abdullah Hasrat, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the policemen were freed after mediation of local elders yesterday night.
