KABUL is high on the agenda as the US president meets his Kazakh counterpart at the White House today (Monday).
Donald Trump and Nursultan Nazarbaev would discuss regional security, economic issues and bilateral relations, the White House said.
It added the two leaders would confer on international challenges, including Afghanistan. The issues may affect Kazakhstan’s term as UN Security Council president.
Trump and Nazarbaev will also exchange views on relations with Russia and the war in Syria, according to Kazakh state news agency Kazinform said.
Sanat Kushkumbaev, deputy director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies which advises the president, was quoted as saying: “From a political perspective, we cooperate on solutions and promotion of regional and global security.
“The meeting will focus on the situation in Afghanistan, the Syrian conflict, and relations with Russia,” Kushkumbaev added.
