JALALABAD (Pajhwok): For the first time in eastern Nangarhar province, the municipality has hired destitute and widowed women for cleanliness in the provincial capital, Jalalabad.
Provincial Municipality spokesman Syed Humayoon Gharibmal told Pajhwok Afghan News currently 12 women, mostly widows, were hired to keep roads and streets clean.
He said the women were appointed under the USAID funded Clean and Green Cities program, with each worker earning 400 afghanis daily.
