KABUL-made explosives had been placed in a vehicle that brought three militants to the Intercontinental Hotel, an official claimed on Wednesday.
A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgents had came in a Town Ace type vehicle full of explosives, but failed to detonate them.
A detective team seized the vehicle and used jammers to disable the remote-control device the assailants had. Pakistan-made explosives were recovered from the car, he added.
