LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Six security personnel were wounded on Saturday when a suicide car bomber attacked a check-post in Nad Ali district, an official said.
Sarhadi Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the incident took place at around 11am. Four Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and two policemen were wounded.
He said the attacker wanted to detonate his explosives near the checkpoint. But the assailant was shot at by the security forces before he could reach them.
Mohammad Hashimi, the district’s administrative chief, also verified the bombing and casualties. As always, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, the group’s spokesman, said the rebels carried out the attack with a tank full of explosives. He claimed many security forces suffered casualties.
