PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): On the eve of a meeting between Afghan and Pakistani officials in Kabul, Islamabad has promised continued positive engagement with the war-torn country.
A Pakistani delegation, led by Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua, is scheduled to arrive in Kabul today (February 3) for talks on the Islamabad-proposed Afghanistan Action Plan for Solidarity.
At a meeting on Friday, the National Security Committee (NSC) condemned the latest wave of terror attacks in Afghanistan and reaffirmed Pakistan’s position on continuing to play its role in regional stability and peace.
Chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the meeting said the Afghan government allegations of Pakistan’s involvement in the attacks were based on misconceptions created by certain foreign elements.
Being victims of terrorism, the people of Pakistan fully understood the pain and anguish of the Afghans, said the committee, which reviewed the security situation in the region.
Ministers of foreign affairs, interior, services chiefs, national security advisor and senior civil and military officials attended the meeting of the top security body.
