LASHKARGHA (Pajhwok): Six security personnel have been killed and eight others wounded in the Taliban attack on a check-post in the Nawa district of southern Helmand province, a reliable source said on Saturday.
The Taliban stormed security check-post in the Surkh Doz area late on Friday night. Six policemen were killed and eight others injured, a well-placed security source said.
District police chief Amanullah confirmed the assault and said five security personnel had been killed and four others wounded. The militants also suffered casualties in the firefight, he added.
Taliban confirmed the incident. The group spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi claimed 15 security personnel had been killed in the overnight attack.
Ahmadi claimed capturing three check-posts and several weapons, ammunitions.
