Lt. Gen. Mohammad Rajab, the highway maintenance commander, told Pajhwok Afghan News the road had been cleared of heavy snow and avalanches after hectic efforts.
Apart from a snowfall of 170 centimetres, 15 avalanches also hit the highway, but the maintenance team cleared the road for light traffic at around 10pm on Monday night.
