Herat man escapes after strangulating wife to death

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A man has strangled his wife to death in the capital of western Herat province, an official said on Wednesday.

Abdul Ahad Walizada, police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the Huz-Garbas locality of Herat City on Tuesday night.

He said the woman’s husband had fled the area and security forces had launched a hunt for him. The motive behind the murder could not be ascertained so far, he concluded.

Marks of strangulation were visible around the victim’s neck, an official at the main the provincial hospital said. However, he gave no further details.
