KABUL of including in its defence budget the requirements of Afghan security forces, an official said on Saturday.
It was reassured that The UK was committed to increasing Afghan National and Defence Forces (ANDSF) capacity, leadership, scholarships and other necessities of Afghan forces in its upcoming defence budget.
The assurances were held out to Afghan Defence Minister Gen. Tariq Shah Bahrami during his trip to the kingdom, said Gen. Dawlat Waziri, spokesman for the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
He said the defence minister held ‘fruitful’ meetings with Stephen Augustus Lovegrove Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence for financial and logistic affairs, and Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach.
Lovegrove assured Bahrami of UK’s continued military support to Afghanistan and the people of Afghanistan in the Resolute Support Mission and supported peaceful settlement to the Afghan conflict through political efforts.
He assured of increasing capacity building programmes, ANDSF leadership training, surge in scholarships and fulfilling other needs of Afghan forces in its upcoming defence budget.
Bahrami during his trip also visited the UK Royal Military Academy and held meeting with officials of the academy and Afghan cadets.
The defence minister encouraged the Afghan cadets to focus on professional military training and transfer the knowledge to the upcoming generation.
Bahrami also met with Afghans living in London in the Afgahnistan Embassy there.
