1 civilian killed, 5 injured in Uruzgan police firing

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): A police officer shot dead one civilian and wounded five others after a verbal fight in the capital of southern Uruzgan province on Sunday.

The incident took place in Tirinkot at around 11:00am after the police officer and civilians clashed verbally, first district police officer Nazar Mohammad said.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News the accused police officer had been arrested and he was right now at the detention center.

Meanwhile, Tirinkot civil hospital director Dr. Aminullah Tokhi confirmed receiving six injured civilians and said one of them later succumbed to his wounds in hospital.

The other injured persons were in stable condition, he said.
